Promoting Good Practice in the Majority World Series
The term “Majority World” was coined by Shahidul Alam in the 90s as an alternative to the colonial and divisive terms like “Third World” and “Global South” – based on classifications of countries across four broad indicators that distinguish global north economies from global south economies: politics, technology, wealth and demography.
The Global South is also known as the set of countries who are developing or under-developed; low - and middle-income; further entrenching the enduring political and wealth hierarchies that are perpetuated by colonial global power dynamics and structures.
In essence, the majority world here refers to the majority of the world(130 odd countries) spanning spanning Africa, the Middle East, Asia (excluding Israel, Japan, and South Korea), Oceania (excluding Australia and New Zealand), Latin America, and the Caribbean.
And for the purpose of this series, the projects and organisations that have to work with limited resources and challenging systems to address multiple complex problems related to the standard of life in their countries.
Key elements within these contexts that need further elevation, are competence strengthening and elevation of good practices of organisations that work every day to make lasting change. Providing a space for this learning and exchange is the main objective of the series.
The series is a collection of e-courses, workshops, webinars and knowledge products that will promote good sustainable development, humanitarian and peacebuilding practice among majority world organisations.
Typically, involvement in the series would require 3 working days a month - split across one series activity, some internal action(s) and tasks.

The Peacebuilding Practice Project (3Ps) is conflict sensitivity and integration in practice.
3Ps is a organisation/project tailored assessment, capacity development, monitoring and knowledge management process that will help your organisation and/or project better understand the potential effects of your interventions (in relation to conflict), mitigate the negative effects and share what we learn together from the process.
Eligible projects can be sustainable development, humanitarian and/or peacebuilding in nature.
The 3Ps journey ranges from three - six months and is culminated by the publishing of a unique open source knowledge product.
If you are interested in the 3Ps, kindly read the 3Ps Overview first and then complete this Expression of Interest (EOI) questionnaire.
